I received the following photo. The sign says this guitar was played in 1989 by MK at the Sky Dome and later signed it.
I never heard about a concert at the Sky Dome (no idea which country either) and the combination with the year 1989 makes it even more strange to me. Maybe it was another charity show in 1989 that was kept out of the publicity?
Has anyone more information about this maybe?

It doesn't actually say the concert was in 1989 but that he signed it in 1989. It does imply it though so it may be worth checking out.
There's a Skydome Arena in Coventry, UK but it wasn't built until 1999!
The Rogers Centre in Toronto (!) was formerly the Sky Dome but it doesn't sound likely.

Yes, you are 100% right, i did not read the sign well enough. I also found out about Coventry dome after I posted it to the forum, but with the building year, it doesn't make sense.
The guitar seems to be displayed in the USA (it also mentions Rosemont theater 2001 on the sign). That is strange too, why would it be there 12 years later when the guitar is signed in 1989? And at what occasion was it signed? I would expect that it was signed after on of the two charity shows in 1989 (Egham, Newcastle) and given away or sold for the charity.
I guess it will be one of the ever lasting mysteries...

Rosemont is in Illinois - Dylan played there about 10 years ago. It has a theatre but who knows if it is connected to this guitar.
Addition:
This is where MK played : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosemont_Theatre
And may explain why they'd want an MK-signed guitar. It looks as though the name of the venue is rendered as both "theatre" and theater"
Rosemont is in Chicago and this NEW YORK TIMES article mentions "the Skydome in Chicago"

It seems likely that there is some kind of connection here.
