Anybody getting it ? Pictures look great. I teach Thai cooking myself. I think I'll wait til Guy decides to put together the Tour book instead. :)

How fan life goes, you start loving Mark's music and you end buying a cook book from the key player... ;D

LOL! I find this whole thing incredible. Guy admitted he thought about this a while ago and "coincidently" all his entries have been promoting the fabulous catering on this tour.
He's entitled to sell it and promote it, but this way is kind of underhand to his fans IMO. :-\

If you buy cook books regularly, go get this one. Otherwise, why would you want to? :smack

This is nothing that interest me the leas from a Mk tour, just.like curiosity, but not for more than 5 lines...

Why not? I never bought any cookbook... As I have Internet... but this one is kinda special and i'm geting it !
Will I use it? Not sure... but who knows

Richard, I believe, is releasing a book on hotel reception etiquette.
Mark himself has declared that Privateering will be his last album as he wants to concentrate on writing his memoirs, particularly the Dire Straits years and the various relationship dynamics within the band.

dmg, I kind of feel the same way. :think

I have lots of cookbooks which I hardly ever use, so Guy's would probably just join them on the shelf! No, I would only be buying it because it was Guy. It looks very nice, though! :)

French people don't need cook books - you write cook books! Cooking brilliantly is in your genes.

I bought 2, one for hubby who is a hobbycook and had to take over a lot of work when I was away all the time. And one for a friend, also interested in cooking. As a gift it's nice.
And you all have short memorie, Guy also talked about the fabulous catering in earlier tours, so it's not a promoting thing. And he wrote the book as a gift to the crew and there are some books left. So we can buy. If not enough people buy it he will not do another print.
-
I see that the Cookbook is "out of stock" now so Ingrid you are lucky :clap :clap
-
Not lucky, just quick enough :D

Well spotted, Ingrid. It has nothing to do with MK or official releases. It's just something Guy did for the tour crew. :)

Just got an email that the book is on it's way to my home. I really like to cook and this book adds something extra to it.

Hi! I am one of the lucky owners of the book, too. I tried a couple of recipes and I must say that they were both great. Sea bass with tomato, basil and lemon zests and the Ten Individual chocolate fondants. The fondants are absolutely gorgeous and very simpe to do. All the recipes are nice, there are a few introduction lines written by Guy and the city where the dish was served. Lots of pictures of course ;D and lovely graphics. Guy answered to me on the forum that he did all on his own with Adobe InDesign. Really a nice job. There's a lot of "Italian taste" in the recipes, but I must say that the Carbonara... eeerrr... well, I went "argh" :smack when I read the recipe! There are two full menus, the mexican one and the indian ones. I like it, but I'm a kitchen jeek!

The chocolate fondant things seem a popular treat from what I gather. Maybe someone could give us their opinion, e.g. were they easy to cook, tasty etc.
BTW, that avatar - GET A TISSUE MAN!!! Dirty dick. :disbelief
-
I had a post written about that new avatar this morning but decided not to post it here :-X ... but in a nutshell, it was something like: I WANT TERRY BACK!!!

I want terry back too....but without the "false close-up" on Mark, then the loop would be perfect :thumbsup
-
The IT one is funny though! :lol

Back to the subject of cookbooks: I love them, and I have a bunch, including the ancient ones inherited from my aunt. A few of those books have a bunch of recipes used and marked to return to or use often. A lot of the books have only two or three recipes used in them, but they are still worth it for those ones I do use--including the one for the recipe for my husband's favorite cake, which was his birthday cake. It took days to complete it, for it had to sit in a bit of bourbon for a while.
So even if Guy's book has just a couple of good recipes, I will consider it a good find. Actually there are probably a lot of great ones, but I am a little lazier about cooking than I used to be, and I don't want to get into too many complicated ones.
-
just noticed the book is on sale on Guy's website for

Did you ever check how much printing costs? Low numbers are really extreme.
