Yawn. No offence to Bun Kennedy but isn't a "special" guest supposed to be someone famous and not just a b-lister? Not something I would get excited about to be honest and if he's going to come on during the show and make Mark drop Speedway again, then... :disbelief

I bet he's opening for Mark.
No more, no less.
Nevertheless, I am a bit surprised by the judging of Bap as a "B-lister"... :hmm :disbelief Mass success isn't the only qualification for a musician, is it?

It is to be regarded as a "special guest" though. Certainly in my book. If it weren't for MK's involvement I wouldn't have heard of Bun. Heard of buns! ;D

If he only does the opening act....he is not a special guess as mentioned on his page........but a supporting act :think
-
if memory serves right the opening acts in the RAH have always been called "special guest"...
I would be surprised if he'd appear during Mark's set.
Why do you stick to call him Bun, dmg? He's Bap ???
Btw: after the Energy Orchard time as well as Steve Earle and Van Morrison he didn't really "need" Mark to be noticed as a good musician...?
-
And who was the opening act at the RAH ?
I don't know if Ruth was preannounced as a special guest or support act at the RAH too .
well in two days we know ;D
-
Bap is the opener. I'll be surprised if he gets to play with MK and band at all.
Let's see if anything happens.
-
And who was the opening act at the RAH ?
I wasn't obviously referring to Ruth, ;)
but to Bap Kennedy and Pieta Brown and William Topley.
Ruth is an exception as she appeared on Mark's album.
As far as I know Bap never did. So there isn't anything he could contribute to Mark's set.
Just my thoughts of course, but yes, in two days we'll know :)

I got it moat , didn't read your reply properly :smack
If mine memory serves well , Marks performed one of James Taylor's song with him during the 2001 tour,
ok after James joined in during STP.... :think
its like a lottery ticket, no draw.....still hope :lol
-
Why do you stick to call him Bun, dmg? He's Bap ???
Only because he's a virtual unknown and I thought that getting his name mixed up with another type of bread roll might be both plausible - for those who don't know him as well as we do - and amuse myself at the same time. ;D
-
OK I see dmg. That's fair enough ;D
I had thought you weren't aware...
You're right enlight; and "hope always dies last" as we say

I realise it's silly and childish, but I have that element in me! ;)
-
Never mind - I can surely relate to THAT ;D
It was my limited language skills that prevented me from gettong the sarcasm...
-
No Amitter attending this show I read.
Hopefully we do get a setlist anyway :wave

I don't go but I know there is at least one.
And AFMK members are there so we will get the setlist for sure.
-
Knopflerized is in, but just sent a message that she runs out of battery and want to keep the little she has for her way back, fair enough.
I will check another source regularly, to see if the setlist I share will be updated. Stay tuned :wave
But it only starts at 20.00, first Bap Kennedy, so only after 21.15 there could be some news about the setlist
-
Elian is there too
-
I don't have his phonennumber ???
-
Just a question, not related to this concert but i thought it was best not to start a new one for my question:
Has the song Hand in Hand ever been performed live????
on topic, i'm sure we will have setlist! Submariner again?
-
Hand in Hand never
-
I got Elian's number. Shall I try?

Apparently, what happens in Budapest, stays in Budapest. Even phone numbers.

We mostly read if a gig was good, the best ,dull, same or different setlist etc.......and that's OK :thumbsup
But I also wanted to read that there was a POWERCUT during "What it is", in Nimes, nobody can miss that :think (though I am glad I can bring something first...don't tell me it was left out for me my dears)
Just like the Irish tune "Marie's Wedding" ,which I posted about in The Halle ,West-falen topic , that Mark and John
add into the outro of "What it is" since Rennes ! .
So here the power-cut @ 02.09 and a nice improvisation by Mark and John this time in Nimes of the Irish tune "Marie's Wedding" during the "What it is" outro. @05.22.
Jeroen don't forget to mention it in the additional comments ;D :lol

-
About " What It Is ".........I think the version on this tour is the best I've ever heard. On earlier tours this song had never worked for me.
The album version is in top five for me when it comes to the solo material made by Mark. Nice to hear a live version that I really like :)
-

2001 versions were best; he misses out half the lyrics now and the song sounds a bit empty in parts. Original guitar too!

There was sort of a reggae riff on these 2001 version that I can't stand
