Wow, most reactions on a show so far :P :P :think
-
Best show in ages, and we all agreed, marky49, Ingrid, Jeroen, Isaac, me....
-
Most awesome moment was whn, before dream, Ian started to play the intro to postcards.

Really quiet here tonight. I agree with Pottel, one of the best shows this tour! It was really funny, Ian starting the wrong song. When Mark started to introduce the band he said something like, the man who couldn't wait to get introduced. And Ian stood up and waved ???? Nice little stories this tour

Better than first night RAH?

According McCusker Twitter, at least him, is sleeping in Heatrow hotel in London

Great show. Mark is great.
I was late but the TR was one meter in front of the microphone :-) The whole group - great.
DS came back :-)
-
Glad that Submarine was palyed. herlock had got to be very happyyyyyy !!! :clap :clap :thumbsup Love Postcard as an intro to band introduction. really cool !!!!! :thumbsup :clap
-
almost every show is "the best one in ages" after you have seen a couple of them... ;)
A pity I couldn't make it :(
Hope he'll play dotds on one of my upcoming ones.
-
A guy tried to steal a microphone as te band was testing off the stage at the end. Glenn noticed and then security dragged the guy away. Stupid
-
Sorry but Ianto starting the wrong song alone does not automatically make a show the best one in ages... so what was so good this time compared to all the other best shows in ages like Antwerp, London 1, Amsterdam etc...

;D :thumbsup :thumbsup :wave

Oh I really mean it... I am very happy for our contingent to have enjoyed another great show and I wish I could join them... but some more details please, musical, guitar, voice, audience... ;D

From accounts of attendees I thought Ziggo was tops! ;D ???
Now it's a show where they messed up an intro to one of the songs! ::)

jbaent, as the next show is on tuesday, I guess they consider these two days as "days off"...
Guy frote on July, 1st:
Good point re. the banjo, was missing it. I'll grab it when we nip home for a couple of days next week

Fully agree LE and dmg...
It's the phenomenon I mentioned earlier.
And no, Ziggo wasn't better than London #1 and/or #6...
Hoping for to hear dotds live, though! (hopefully after something different from SfSL) :-X (I didn't say that) ;D

For me best shows so far were London 1, Zwolle and Stuttgart. Everything yesterday was fine, good mood, music very well played, nice mistake from Ian, great audience. And again a very warm hall (not as warm as Frankfurt)
-
Thanks Ingrid! :thumbsup
I can imagine that it is not that easy to choose from nearly 20 shows (as you are about to do) ... I think it is fair to say that this tour is far better than 2010, 2008, 2006, 2005, 2001...
Astonishing that Zwolle turns up now and then when it comes to the best shows... all I heard (outside of this forum) was "average at the most", "not that spectacular".. and stuff like that... .
We all know what it is about opinions, but I regard the opinions of AMITers who have something to say very high because they CAN judge it better than attendants from let's say one or two shows. On the other hand, I found out myself that it is a TOTAL difference being at a show and hearing the recording later.. so many aspects of it are not there when you just listen to the usb stick... so judging a show the next morning and judging a concert by its recording are two different things, no doubt about it.

My only concert on this tour and it was one more time like to enjoy a box of sweets&candies. MK and the band were in good mood and it was very enjoyable to hear my two favourite songs of the

Glad to hear you enjoyed the concert, Chris. Nice to see you here again! :)

He actually "only" wanted to grab the stick that Ian threw away. It would have been smarter to wait some seconds and ask someone of the crew, I

Thanks for the kind words, Val. I hope, you're fine. :wave
Marc96: Yes, "Telegraph Road" was far better than in 2010, very energetic!

Thanks Ingrid! :thumbsup

+1
as I said before its a personal thing, a show can be good just because the band made some mistakes , as long there is a laughter from Mark
what if he reacted in an angry way than the show was less good?
And when another show gets the rate best ever at least give some musically info about ...why.
Off course all the shows are fun especially when meeting other lovely amiters .
Somebody loves the 22-06 Budapest gig most because it was played on the date of his passed away father's birthday...........at least from his point of view....... i can life with that choice .
-
The audience was great, the band was in a superb mood, the songs were played to perfection, some funny mistakes. All that is needed for a perfect night.
I do not like name dropping, but even mr. Isaac said it was a greeeaatt show ( he did not use the word greatest)
Maybe this eases your worried little minds out there ;))))
-
No worried little minds around as far as I can see, Mr. Chairman thank you very much.
LE

It doesn't take a great mind to judge an MK gig the best one ever.
The latest is always the best because it makes earlier ones fade to black...
Just another small mind's 1.5 Cents ;D

I had a fabulous night yesterday, thanks to Ingrid who took care of everything so that I can have a tickets.
So great again to meet with Pottel, Ingrid,Isaac, Jeroen and others...
On the train to Stuttgart I was reading this forum and read Pottel calling dotds a boring song !! This put my morale down ! I made big sacrifices to come to listen to the so-called boring song ! :)
And as if this was not enough, Prior to the show Isaac was teasing me, saying that the "new song" would probably be skipped so that the band can fly back early to London...
So, after Sonny (already a depressing news in itself) was played, can you imagine my level of anxiety... And then my level of despair when I heard the strong beat of Postcards intro !! I just thought Isaac's dreadful prophecy had realized... I felt desperate... Then I told myself: wait a sec... Something is wrong... Nigel is there with his clarinet... And they all look surprised... And then the beat stops... Marks laughs... Makes a (new) joke about Ianto being too much in a rush... And, suddenly, dotds starts... I couldn't believe it... And what a dotds ! Later Ingrid would tell me it was the best of all four, and I had no problem believing her: such poetry... So great and elaborated and end solo... Pottel, you are happy to live in 21st century... In the Middle Ages you would have been burnt alive for a lesser blasphemy than calling dotds "boring !" :)
After the song the superb band intro, using Paraguay as a platform, started as usual, giving Mark the opportunity to joke again, saying that Ianto was "dying to be introduced".
These are those few moments in life for which you want to live... With a last-minute trip I managed to catch the last and best rare live rendition of this most beautiful song that we had given up hope to hear... We don't think I will be played again without Nigel... Inceedible luck for me !
And I have to say that although I strongly disagree with Pottel about dotds, I really concur with him and all the others to say the this show was the best ever... Superb Speeday, incredible Telegraph solo (I will never again complain about the "karaoke mode" or miss the 2005 versions), even slightly longer than London 1, with new licks !
Although my seat was a bit far, I managed to come very close to the stage after the run of bulls, to see OSL and GH very close again... Superb renditions...
Superb night and then breakfast with my fellow AMITers to conclude this trip... You guys are special, MK creates a very strong community ! Thanks so much again !:)

Great review herlock!!!
I can't believe some of the things I read here, but apparently little minds overestimate R&J or DOtdS ;D

Disagree dear, how could I say London is one of the best, ages ago and a lot of gigs after that one
-
Exceptions prove a theory is correct :P
The tendency is surely there ;)
-
little minds to the rescue.
listening to my, damn great, recording here, whilst i work hard to make up for time lost in the office.
HFB is simply brilliant...
will post further on the coming songs as i hear them...
my god, that voice....that guitar...that bass ...

btw richard just wrote:
Sadly, it was the last show that Nigel Hitchcock will do with us on this tour. It's been great having Nige along, he's a brilliant musician and wonderful guy and we look forward to seeing him for a short run of dates in October in the States.
-
Thanks for your review Herlock, nice read.............the novelist in you ? :wave
-
great also to meet Chris yesterday.
-
ok, listening to DODS now, and the "solo" at the end does make it worthwhile,...a bit.
the paraguay intro earlier is just funny.

Can you share DOTDS Pottel? :)
-
I was very impressed by DOTDS in Stuttgart. More that in Bad Mergentheim. But imho this song has still more potential. I wish it grow and expand into a "new Marbletown"
-
Thanks for the rewiew Herlock. Very interesting. I'm so glad that your dream came true about Submariner ;)
It's my favorite track on the album and it's so great to hear the versions from Germany ;D
For me it's a surprise how good it sounds played live too. It would have been perfect if Mark had made that stroke of genius at the start of the tour :think
I was not happy to see the lack of Sultans and also Speedway at some shows, but It's very nice to see Submariner on the list now :clap :clap :clap
Well done Mark.........
