Oh, me too! Since this tour I love it, whereas the album version sounds incomplete to me... live version has some more "epic" feeling than the album version which sounds rather "depressed"...
Just wrote the earlier post because Isaac never forgets to mention the appearance of KOG at his tour blog... he even suggests to "simply all sticks with that song on it" if I remember correctly...

Nevertheless, I also liked the Bucharest version of Yon Two Crows. And dmg, I remember you saying that there was "something wrong" with it (?) and I agree, it is something John and Mike do, just don't fit in with the build-up, maybe that's the reason Mark ditched it... I have not very much hope to see it returned... whereas Sultans should come back at Cologne the latest.. .  ;)

Cologne at the very latest.  I do like GB in the set, but if anyone says it replaces SOS they are just talking gobbledegook!  [I just wanted to use "that" word!] ;D

Blimey! If somebody in 2012 after the album release would have told me that MK will play Corned Beef City, Privateering, Kingdom Of Gold, I Used To Could AND Gator Blood at ONE concert, I would have said: Yes of course mate... but I would have never expected not to see Sultans... so he really surprised us..

"...security on the instruments please!"  Mark seems to be very careful about his guitars...  ;)

Or maybe he saw you (or your friend) recording and thought, wow, here in Slovakia, everything is possible.... (just kidding)

He has made some bad experience with not so good security during the OES tour, hasn't he.

Nice recording! Brothers, What It is and 2 seconds of Romeo. No Silvertown this time.  ;D

Well, Love Expresso is kind of right, everything is possible in Slovakia :D . We (with BoboDS) just "came inside". Somebody from Mark's team told us to move back behind the tribune so we did not see, but were able to hear ok. I turned on recording and we were just standing there. Five security guys walked by without even noticing us :D

Hi y'all,
a great night yesterday in Bratislava. All I can say, anything is possible, also anything is possible in Slovakia.

So the concert was in our national tennis centre. We wanted to get a signature before the show, so we got there around 4pm to meet Mark. It was just the 3 of us - the most diehard MK Slovak fans. The arena is very close to the street, so when we got there, we could hear the instruments soundcheck. Initially a slight fear got hold of me, because I thought Mark was already there. Strange thing was that the arena doors (which were like 5 meters from the street) were opened. Everything was just getting ready. So I walked in and planted a sure look on my face like I belonged there and  knew what I was doing there. Then I saw I guess glen saggers and the other roadies setting up the instruments, so I thought we were ok, MK was probably not there yet.

So we went outside to wait for MK near the entrance to the underground parking. Everything ready, markers, booklets, books, a banner, we waited for 15mintues, 30minutes, 50 minutes,... "Wait a minute, something is not right." said my friend and disappeared into the arena. He came back in a minute and found out MK was already inside! "Dammit!"

But we were determined to get that signature and didn't "holster our weapons" (as we say in Slovakia) yet. So we started to walk around the arena to look for the band members. And sure enough, at the other end of arena (it's a round building) we found them. They were sitting outside and having a coffee, like 10 meters from us. There was barrier between us and them. We spotted Mark, Glen W and couple of other peope we didn't know. I am sure Mark acknowledged our presence, and suddenly he stood up and got off back inside. So we politely "shouted" at him, but to no avail. Soon everybody went inside. No luck again.

We figured they went in for the real soundcheck. Everything was now busier near the arena doors, the security men were patrolling around. No matter, planting the sure looks on our faces, we got inside again. We were able to see the stage from small stairs. Security men literally walk around us twice (!) nobody asked us even a question. Everything was ready for the soundcheck kickoff with the real band when a MK soundtech spotted us and politely told us to go back behind the stands. OK, no problemo sir. But it was that kind of a stand which you could disassemble and see through and hear through.

Ok, a few seconds after, the soundcheck really began! It was a kind of a magical moment for me, thinking about the scarcity of DS soundchecks captured on tapes (Brighton 82 came immediately to my mind). They played pieces of Brothers, What it is, R&J, Tel. Road. Very very cool, and my friend managed to record it! :)

So the soundcheck ended, and we went to the backside/outside of the arena again. Richard B came right out. He didn't seem to get a notice of us. So I shouted at him "Mr. Richard, can we get a signature please?" and he was very cool. "Of course, no problem". We had a short chat with him about Nashville and Memphis because I was living there for a while some years ago. He signed our Privateering booklets, he was very sincere and very down to earth. Really an honest, great great person. Thank you very much Richard!

Near us there was a glass door where we could see the band members walking around, but still no sign of MK. We had this A4 sized banner saying "Mark could you spare a minute for Slovakian Rudigers? Thank you :)" and I was holding it so that it people on the other side of the glass could see it. John McC, Guy, Ian walked by and Mike McG. even waiwed back at us.

Then a strange thing happened, Mr. Paul Cockford saw it and stopped. He took a good look at the banner and decided he wanted to speak to us. He told us that Mark doesn't do autographs before the show (it was still 2 hours to go) and that there's no chance we could get one. That's it, goodbye, enjoy the show. We couldn't believe it, we came for the signature and we were gonna get it. So we sticked around a bit more, hoping that at least Guy would come out.

Then suddenly the assistant manager appeared (I don't know his name), and we almost couldn't believe what he said. Mark was going to sign one item for each person! Yay! So we gave him the booklets and he really did. The assistant manager was really nice, polite of course, but also very friendly (whereas Mr. PC always lets you know that HE is THE manager, but that's the way it should be probably) and down to earth. We had a quick chat with him, he also gave us one MK guitar pick and we couldn't thank him enough! So Thank you mr. assistant manager :)

So it was pretty unbelievable when I think about it. To be able to walk in out of the venue 2 hours before the show as I see fit, I get the feeling that this would never happend in (more) western part of the world. To hear the soundcheck, to almost privately chat with Richard B and with the managers... Great experience. Although we didn't speak to Mark, at least we saw him and he signed the stuff for us, so we were and are very happy.

One more little thing. I bought a Medium sized MK T-shirt at the Luxembourg gig, but it was more like XL (but it said M). So I asked if they could give me a proper sized M T-shirt and they did, no fuss, everything smooth.

So A big thank you to Richard B and the management for making all these things possible. Thanks also to lethargic Slovak security guys in the arena.

In short, the show itself was very good, MK played very good solos. I'll write more about the songs when I have more time.

I think it was Peter Mackay. He is the assistant tour manager. In Copenhagen I saw him give some guitar pics to some children at the first row. Seems to be a nice person  :)
Here he is in the middle.

Yes that's him. Thanks Marikablue.

Btw sorry for all the little mistakes, I was writing quickly during the lunch break, didn't really reread it ...

I was surprised how eager the audience was. It's been 17 years since Mark played here (I was there also), so it's been long overdue :)  Highlights of the show: definitely Kingdome of Gold, I used to could (Jim Cox!), Telegraph Road (final solo very good, better than in Luxembourg this year), Speedway (always) and Brothers! very nice solo again). I was so thrilled about the moments before the shows, that I could not really pay attention 100%, just 90% maybe. But superb show anyway.

Thanks for all the positive comments, I really had fun writing because it was like reliving it all again :)

So what is your story Sweetsurrender?

Yes Lis, I like that line very much, because a couple of months ago I realized some things and this line really has a very deep meaning for me now (it may sound like a cliche, but it's really not a cliche for me).

Pottel, it was definitely lossy, because Ferrard recorded it to his ipad as video, so that's the only thing we have.

Well, I guess I could share my little story.  It certainly wasn't as thrilling as yours. Flashback to 2010 Tuesday April 13 , my very first show out of the 4 shows I attended during that tour.  I arrived at the venue Paramount Theater in Oakland a little early.  I didn't come with the intention of encountering Mark or any hopes of getting an autograph.  ( And I didn't get any !) Big crowds of people hadn't gathered yet, I noticed a few big trucks parked near the back entrance, being a getalifer Rudiger, my instint told me to start heading over there.  My heart started skipping some beats, my excitement started to accelerate beyond I could control. No, I didn't bump into Mark or any band members, but I saw all the equipment , gears, wardrobe, they were all marked with MK initials.  Took some of the pictures.  Crossed the street to the side where the back entrance to the venue was located, only to be greeted by a few really stern tired looking security guys.  I thought of sweet talking with one of them, but I couldn't summed up enough courage to do so.  Disappointed, I decided to just hang around outside hoping that Mark would come out.  No such luck ! :(  Walked back to the box office, crowds started to form a line.  I stood in line after an attempt that went futile. This time I struck up a conversation with a really friendly security guy policing the crowds.  He said he would love to help me get back stage, but he couldn't do it at the moment, because he was on duty.  >:(  No, I didn't meet Mark  >:(

Next day, A show in Santa Rosa.  I had to behave myself as my other half came with me.  I couldn't go doing any kinds of mischieves.  (looking for back entrance /bribing anybody , you know the drills ) I was a perfectly good normal regualr concertgoer.  As I was walking around the lobby of the venue, I ran across Tim O'Brien.  I recognized him right away.  I approached and politely asked if I could have a picture with him.  ( I don't know how any man would refuse a photo with a nice lady! ;D) Being a gentleman as he was, he posed with me and with my great surprise said that he remembered seeing me the day before near the back entrance.  I told him I'm following the band to San Diego the next day.  So, he told me to come to the back entrance at 4 pm. That's when they will arrive.  Armed with that info, I passed it to Knopfling whom I would meet in San Diego.  She got there right at 4 PM.  I arrived a few minutes too late when she phoned me to let me know that Mark just walked in past her.  I wasn't a happy camper for sure. How could I had such a misforutne of letting Mark slipped away. I bet if I were there with Knopfling together we would get his attention.  I  met up with her anyway and we were quite determined to hang around a little bit longer.  We were the only 2 Rudigers there.  After a while, Glen came out and talked with us.  He said he would see if Mark would come out to meet us.  But that was more like a dream than a reality.  At the end , we realized our persistence wouldn't yield much results, we gave up our hope to meet Mark.  I did get a handshake at the end of the show from Mark Though. So, that pretty much made up for the misfortunes.  As long as Mark still tours, I haven't relinquish any hopes that some days I'll meet him for real. For now, I'll cherish every experience of going to see Mark and the band play.   ;)

Sorry, it's a long post. thanks for reading.

Cool stuff! My heart was pounding like I was there  :) It's interesting because one never knows what can happen, like when Tim told you the time of arrival and then when you met Glen. Nice to get a handshake, I would like to get one from the man. How did you manage that, I mean where did it happen, outside when they were getting into cars or still inside the arena?

I got it at the end of "Piper to the end"  Suddendly, people in the front row stood up. I was about 5 rows back.  I flew out of my seat without any hesitations and slowly made my way to the front of the stage.  The security dude tried to get me to go back to my seat, but he gave up at the end.  What made this handshake sooo special was, I was the last one to get it.  2 other guys got them. You could imagine all the hands that shot up there and everybody was shouting " Mark, Mark"  Mark saw me trying soooo  hard to reach up my hand, he actually took a few steps closer to the edge and gave me that unforgettable handshake moment. It was such a sweettttttt memory for me.   I managed to capture that moment at the end on this video.

I noticed that too when I saw it the first time !!!  May be he choked up tears because he saw me all in tears at the front. My own imagination.   :)
