Norway was by far Privateering's most successful market wasn't it? Number 1 here for a wee while. Well done our Norwegian Knopfler fans, you all deserve great shows and I'm sure you will!

I have to say best concert I've been to with mark in years! He did the stop like he did on the intro to two young lovers - that what really cool! :) I have to say - father and son was a real highlight for me :) loved it! And kingdom of gold!! Man that was fabulous!!! :) I think John played something Norwegian-folk style in the middle of Marbletown! The band stopped and he just kept on playing :) more to come
-
Can't wait for the recording. In marbletown a break with norwegian folk sounds superb
-
I wish you and other fans a great time Tobben!!

More like "I'm all shook up" - but instead he said "do you like it? Yeah" :p
He also said very kind words about how beautiful Norway is around Hamar. They for sure had a great time :)
-
Thanks so much, Tobben, for the updates!!! :D So glad it was a great concert for you!!

One picture from Corned Beef City in the article there. Unfortunately it's in Norwegian - but I'll guess google translate can help you ;)
Here is a small videoclip from a local newspaper (what it is):

thanks for the setlist, your review and the links Tobben. :wave
great to see KOG.
on which song Mark did the "two young lovers, intro stop"? ( use to could I guess?)
"I'm all shook up" brings back the BIA-tour feeling..............."Jack ,Jack, Jackie?.....wait, wait!..... what do you want? ? ?.........Dave Edmunds???"
Did the NKR filmed the whole show?, I am ready for a trade anytime ;D

Oh man! I'd love to tour Scandanavia. I must get around to writing a bunch of classic songs, and having a tour organised !!
Wonderful reports Tobben, cheers ! :)
-
When listening to the recording of Marbletown from Glasgow I hear that John plays something similar to what he did at Hamar, so I guess it's not that special.. But it was still great :)
-
Thanks for sharing Tobben! Look forward to hear about Bergen and Stavanger as well :)
-
I will not be in Bergen, but on my way to Stavanger now.. Actually I'm on the plane :)
Will do the same for Stavanger tomorrow :)
-
Ah, just assumed you were going to all this year as well:) Hard to beat Norwegians in-air wifi..when it works. Have a nice time in Stvgr, guess we'll hear from Kay or Jarle about Bergen tonight then :)

Here is a nice video from YouTube of Piper To The End:

Did somebody noticed the incredible solo on KOG?
It's unbelievable! It's the longest of the tour so far! Solo goes on and on (1min and almost 30 seconds!) Other solo's were lasting for 1 minute to 1 minute and 5 sec. (f.e Amsterdam, Prague & Glasgow)

I noticed too! I think it sounded a bit like someone forgot to wind up the song at the usual bit, so the rest of the band just kept going! If you listen carefully you might just sense something. It is great though and I think best ever! :thumbsup
-
Yeah, more 'rounds' than the usual.
It happened also with Hillfarmers blues in Birmingham 2010. That solo is also longer than all the other versions.

That was the first thing which came to my mind too, I got the feeling it was played a bit to slow ,with Mark vocals very close-miked.
maybe if they speed or wind it up so to speak the solo would have been just as long ? ;D
Still a nice version, and I can carefully say that I rate this whole show high (imho)
-
Best version of the tour, normally it's 1 minute solo. Now the band and MK goes on where they normally stops.
-
So Dutchessy, would you recommend the stick of this show?

I was kidding about the length stuff, though I still have the feeling that the song has "less speed" than the other versions,
you can hear Mark (close miked recorded) search were to "put" his words on the melody line (imho).
The solo goes on indeed a few bars more and last longer.....that doesn't automatically make it the best version for me, although it is because of this kind of issues a version to remember for sure. Which is good enough for me :thumbsup
-
So Dutchessy, would you recommend the stick of this show?
I would.... but I am not Dutchessy ;)
-
For me, and it's not only this great KOG, the Scandinavian shows have been the stand-out shows of the tour. Gothenburg sounds the best from what I've heard so far.
-

Haven't heard the complete show. There is also the little 'stop' in I used to could at the beginning of the intro. (included in the MP3 of KOG at the end)
