Actually I may be the only one here, but I do like Rudy a lot, it is even my fav from the GH album ! :) Great melancholic song, I would love to hear it again...
I also like Bonaparte, I'm really a freak :D but I hate Sony...

I also like Rudiger, some nice licks and catchy melody, Bonaparte also a nice song with good lyrics (but overload of it the recent years) and Sonny...well..we all agree about Sonny

Maybe they're going to play Rudiger? If it's one of the 36.. I think it''ll sound great with this band!

I love it too !!! There must be a lot of Rudigers getalifers out there. So, it almost sounds like Mark wrote this song for us ! ;D It's a beautiful song with nice melody. :)
-
Will keep an eye out for Rudy. Just realized I grout the wrong SD card for my taping device. Hope I can find one on my way....
-
I used to like it but my taste over the years has changed for that one.
The '96 version featuring a string quartet is really great.
But the line between "beautiful" and "boring" may be very thin
-
If someone is able to post the live SETLIST here tonight, contact me per SMS or what sap on xxxxxxxx
Then I will send it to you. Once you and I have agreed, pls post so here so I do not keep getting unnecessary posts.

I will do the live report tonight!:-)

Rudigers and Getalifers are not to be mistaken for one another!

+1.
You know I have a simple method to detect masterpieces: hear everything, in no particular order... then see what keeps running in your head.
Tupelo is one of them. I paid it next to no attention on the SL album, but here the cittern (well used for once, not like in TR !!) makes it very addictive. I keep playing it.
-
At least Sultans is played! :)
-
Hm. Tupelo is not bad, but if there are four songs at this set list position in question - Yon Two Crows, Kingdom of Gold, 5.15 am, Back To Tupelo - I would choose Tupelo as the last alternative.

Agreed. As much as I like Tupelo, YTC and KOG would be above... as for 5.15am, maybe on par with Tupelo...
-
Wow, Gator Blood seems to be an inherent part of the set list. Very cool!!

In fact, BTT, YTC and KOG should be played every night :wave
Great setlist tonight. Better than the italian shows.
Just miss YTC to be perfect. :thumbsup
5:15 replaced by Tupelo is a powerful upgrade.

Probably doing the setlist as wel tommorow evening together witch Dutchessy'!:-) Great fun to do this!

Actually if you listen to 5.15am from Belgrade, this is what I thought, the youtube video missed the end: a powerful guitar solo. I prefer BTT by a hair, but 5.15am is great too !

I gave 5:15am a try , as well as miss you blues and Father & son , but there's nothing to do. I can't get used to it.
-
YTC instead of Haul away and it will be perfect for me !
-
there will be a 3 min TV-report in german "ZDF" broadcast in about 1h (at 0:15) in the "Heute Nacht" News about the Berlin concert
-
Redbud tree in Soundcheck this evening.
-
Can you tape it? I will now go and drink a beer, listening to my own recording. Awesome...Ingrid got the SETLIST, and that one had a big surprise in the soundcheck info, which was on there too (strange) but I will leave that to Ingrid
Tonight I bough a cup and a program. May still buy a 60

Great setlist tonight. Better than the italian shows.
Setlstwise everybody has its own opinion upon it. What is fun about the 2013 rotating is that you always find someone to think that "tonight change" is great and someboydy that "yesterday was indeed a better choice"...
BTW Tupelo 2013 was first played...in Italy, and to my know from tonight setlist only "Haul Away" wasn't perrformed there, to my delight as that one bores me from day one.
-
And shangri la would have been the alternate last song. Lucky me that this did not happen. Also, guess when I went to the toilet...;)
-
I did not like haul away last tour, but here it really gotten better, more heartfelt feeling from mark.
-
Setlist picture by Ingrid
-
My only regrets is to miss a live rendition of the wonderful "5.15 a.m." but I still have 4 chances left out of the 6 2013 attended show.
Will I be lucky?
So far setlistwise I had been.
-
Another great set but if i had to be picky i'd change Gator Blood for Yon Two Crows, then it would be near perfect ;)
-
I found the audience to be respectful, but too quite. Theresa's big applause, but only really between the songs.
Nice start of the season for me.
Typical for Berlin audience and German audience in general? I am not sure Bremen will be very different, they are Northern Germans after all... but hey, better than having someone screaming into your ear all the time.. . ;D
Off to Bremen now, looking forward VERY much to it, can't remember being this excited for the last tours... hope we will have a first Redbud Tree tonight!
Review tonight when I'm home again. Maybe. Not before 1:00 am.

Setlist is fine, but on the other side, its getting static again.
Just one change, would be nice if they keep up a more changing setlist.

To me, the core DS subset (Sos, R&J, TR, BIA, but not SFA), plus the solo classics (WII, HFB, MT, SAN, Piper, and now YTC and KOG) should be fixed.
This leaves room for 5/6 songs to rotate !

I would like to see the encores changing more frequently. We seem to be stuck with BIA and SFA and it would be nice to have songs like Going Home, Piper and maybe something else instead! ;)

That sounds fine, Herlock, but I would like Postcards to be fixed too, otherwise we might end up having Bonaparte again for the introduction song! Don't get me wrong, I like Boney, but I like Postcards much more for this slot! :)
-
and then we end up with all songs fixed and nothing to rotate anymore? :-)
enjoyed re-listening to last nights' recording, getting ready to drive to Bremen soon. first enjoying breakfast in my favorite german town, Berlin, meeting with an old colleague.

Ive taped it and maked a camera recording of the tv (very proffesional, i know :lol) But it's better than nothing ;)
Looks like the first 2 songs are filmed by ZDF (press allowed during first 2 songs?)

Back from Berlin, MK and a much needed time off... Sorry for anyone I missed, my hotel was quite far away from the venue - arrived late, left early. And frankly, I just felt like I needed some time with MK alone... Well, his music I mean. Too many important non-MK-things happening lately... Anyway, really enjoyed the show, great sound for such a huge ugly hall. Hadn't really paid much attention to setlist, reviews, and fans hyperventilating lately, so even though I had a glimpse at the first show's setlist, I had forgotten about it by the time I arrived in Berlin. So Back to Tupelo was a nice surprise, as was Gator Blood. Anyway, I would have switched ANY of the played songs for Yon Two Crows and 5.15 am but you can't always get what you want, can you.
I think "Border Reiver" worked better as an opener than "What It Is". Glad he dropped Napoleon and STP. Seems like the setlist has become a little more flexible (but never say never until the tour ends) but I must admit I am slowly getting bored with the basic frame. Speedway, Marbletown, So Far Away, Brothers in Arms, Romeo... Yawn. Also, the way the guitar sound is more and more overpowered by those celtic noises annoys the heck out of me. And I really really want that fantastic TR solo back, right after he sings "Like a rolling river"...
Maybe I was a little too distracted by real life that Friday night but this was the first time I didn't feel the usual level of excitement. Or it's probably because I had a shitty seat, sandwiched in row effing 13 on the very right between those boring, unappreciative people. One guy in front of me started filming with his effing iPhone during What It Is and I told him off...
Three more concerts for me, and I am curious how I feel afterwards. Right now it's really strange... Browsing some setlists and reviews now. 8)

Dutchessy, just in case you are interested in a "proper" version of the zdf thing (also I think it is not very informative), the zdf has a so-called
"Mediathek" with a few days delay. So maybe it will turn up there.

I am with you on that for most of it.
IMHO BR was just the best opener since DTTW...
And WII is a really good song but maybe not performed as good as it could be.

Yes, for WII the studio version remains the best, at least for the beginning. Live it is too slow.
The interlude and the end solo are nice live though.
-
2001 intro was nice, not the rest of the song
2005 Guy part was nice and maybe best overall live version were performed during that tour. But I have no memories of the 2002 version and I guess it could compete as that band was quite great.

"2001 into", do you mean the Bonnie bank lomond, or the actual start of the song ?

After listening to my 3 own recordings right now I can only confirm that what it is is being p payed "too" slow.

Thnx LE, but i have it recorded in good quality. This was only for amit ;) to show it to the people who missed it on tv.

There is actually a contrast between the beginning and the end, the beginning is too slow, the end is as fast as 2001/2005... strange....

100% agree
-
I would agree with the above. It's his playing throughout the song during the lyrics that is so weak and to be honest poor on the live versions. I the studio version the better playing give it much more of a lift and makes it far more powerful, full of energy and swinging.
Some of the early promo ones were good like Letterman, Harald Schmidt etc... though. :think

yes, because in studio, he doesn't have to sing and play at the same time (he did it on privateering though, according to Guy), so he can concentrate on each side

Yes, and he has got the lyrics mixed up a bit and tongue-tied too on this one on more than one occasion (Edison Awards 2003 e.g.). Mind you, so have I just singing along without doing nothing! :-[
P.S. Just listened to the Parky one and that sounded very nice with an interesting band line up.
