My friend told me that he had a great present to give me for Xmas so off I went to London to meet up and sure enough he was right......to cut a long story short my friend has a connection with one of MKs old girlfriends who has kept an old guitar pickguard that she used to have on one of her guitars...MK signed this many moons ago and the the old girlfriend had always wanted to give it to a true fan of Dire Straits.....The signature is definetley his but it has worn aways so much that it is barely recognisable..although it is defintetley his....it looks more like a tea stain then a penned autograph!!!
I have no idea if this is of any value (not that i am looking to cash in obviously) but it is a pretty amazing little thing to have.....

I think you're right; the history and story that the object has is worth far more than the money.

DMG...i do ont have any pics yet but i am not sure it is worth taking a y given the extent to which the orginal signature has faded coupled with my terrible camera phone!!!
BUt let me see what i can do!!!!
I would love to take it on Antiques roadshow!!!
