Title: Electronic drumkit

I want one of those. Not to start a new career in music, but to play for myself, just like I (try) to play the guitar. Electronic because I want to be able to wear headphones and really play for myself!

Does anybody here know anything about these and can recommend something?

Roland TD series are fantastic. Feel & sound are spot on. Here's a video of my old band in a rehearsal studio, our drummer loves the TD20!

As well as headphones I'd recommend hooking up to an entry level pair of studio monitors or pa. That way you can turn down, feel comfortable and it will be less fatiguing to your own ears too.

The dorky fella with a strat behind the singer. I manage not to smile the whole time! :(

BTW thats a top of the range kit there, but the cheaper ones are great too. Also i think Yamaha do a great kit, but haven`t seen one in action.
The main thing is to avoid electronic kits that are toys rather than instruments. But these days the quality is getting better and better. I know our drummer used to just LOVE coming to practice, just to fiddle with the settings.

Thanks, you are right, I don't need a top of the range one, but I will check out the Roland entry level kits!

you don't have to smile, it's better to concentrate on our playing!  ;)

I got a Yamaha entry level kit (DTXplorer) and I am very happy with it  :)

At least I'm keen to hear a review of the Yamaha, how does it feel?

Thanks for asking but you'll have to wait a little bit for the video.

I love it. It is very good for its price, even if I am sure that a more expensive one is 10 times better.

For what I do with it (learning the basics again, jamming with hubby (and with our forum friend knopflerized via Skype once, that was fun) and making noise) it's perfect. Sounds pretty good too.

I love being able to change the sound of the kit to pretty much anything I want.

A great toy!

Next time I break my knee (should be anytime soon now, it's almost a year) and can't do sports for a while, I'm gonna take lessons.
