Title: The last GL concert in Gredos
Post by: Darling Pretty on July 24, 2010, 01:52:36 PM
It just read that Pieta Brown and Bo Ramsey will support MK and the band again in Gredos.
Also a band from Valladolid called Arizona Baby will perform there.

Seems there will be a great last concert party.

As I heard there are 2 different stages and ticket sales crossed the 9000 mark.

Seems to be very cool location...

Blimey, first I read "tickets are for 9000 Mark", then I remember, oh, boy, yeah, we have the EURO....   LOL

but I understood it correctly now.

I think...   :lol :lol :lol

Pieta and Bo were in my hotel, was quite nice to see both of them there, before and after the show LOL

After reading Guy's last diary entry (and also the latest forum answers) I have the feeling that somehow he is not too confident about a possible next tour. He never sent so "sentimental" words to Mark, it really sounds very deeply moved. Let's hope Mark really will do it again. It could also have been
the last MK tour!

I didn't dare to "type it out loud" but those were my thoughts exactly!!

Come on you two!  Guy can't exactly come out and say "we're touring again in two years" unless he is absolutely certain about it so I guess we'll all have to wait until MK gives the go-ahead.  I must say though that I think personally he sounded as positive as normal end of tour.

I just read Guy's last diary and also the forum and for some reason, I had the same feeling as you, LE, and it left me feeling a bit uneasy and emotional about the future of the band and what will happen next.  I know touring will inevitably come to an end one day, but please, not yet!  Life just would not be the same without the usual album/tour every two years and meeting  all the fans!

Guy did say, a few days ago, that there was lots of good stuff to come, so maybe he was just feeling a bit sad today because it's the end of this tour, which is very understandable, of course.

Anyway, here's to the next album and tour - cheers!    :D

I hope so, too! I am not prepared for never seeing him again in the future!  :o What I would appreciate however is maybe waiting until 2012 or even 2013 for another album if after that it would be worth the wait... He should break out of this two-year-album-tour-schedule to think about it, write really classic great songs and get energized again for another tour...  But then again it is such a long time to wait!

We have a lottery jackpot in Germany about 10 Million Euros (I think), and I was reading the ad and thought "if I would win this, I would do the same thing as Isaac did - best hotels and stuff, first row of course. The blogging thing could be something I possible would fail at, but apart from that this would be my first idea to spend so much money... what does this saying about my momentary mental condition???  :disbelief  :disbelief

And I am about to download the Locarno show, just for fun, after reading those frenetic review from the same Isaac...

I want a new album!  ;D

I will do the same with 1 million!

But this is not fun... We all thought the same thing by reading Guy's latest entry... I was feeling the same :'(
Especially by this sentence: regardless of whether or not we do it again. (and just for the record, we all hope very much that we will)
And his Thanks to everything and Mark story... Maybe Mark won't do it again with this back injury... So hoping for a full recovery soon!

As soon as I read the words "regardless of whether we do it again or not", I was sorry he wrote them.  I knew it would send everyone into a panic.  I think Guy was on an emotional high (or low) when he wrote that sentimental post.  I imagine he will be getting questions from fans about whether there will be a tour in 2012.  I doubt Mark makes that decision this early.  I believe that his back will be fine, and that we'll see them in 2012.   :) :) :)

Jepp.
Very sentimental words Guy used.
I had the same thoughts as LE.

Let's see what happens.

First his back has to recover.
And: The band need holidays for a minimum of 4 weeks...

Maybe we get next news in september or october

It's fun to think about what we would do if we had "endless" amounts of money, but even if it was financially possible there's no way I could or would want to do what Isaac did. The travelling and meeting people would be fun, but I've got people who love me and depend on me and there's no way I could be away from them for four months. Some may see that as a hindrence or burden. I see it as a good thing. :)

On the speculation, MK has said before that he plans to be playing when he's 80 so I think there's life in him yet, but if he does call it a day, he's going out at the top. :)

Based on how prolifically creative and a workhorse MK is there is NO way he is going to stop releasing albums and touring....can you REALLY see MK sitting on a beach somewhere for the next 20 years.......he will be back in the studio "noodling" before we know it! ;D

But regarding the touring question?

Next tour would be no surprise to be a lightered one and not providing 87 shows in 110 days or so.

I'm sure you're right, Schmonka.   I think once Mark's back is OK he will be in the studio again - at least I hope so!  ;)

No, I can't see him lying on a beach for very long either.   I remember him saying somewhere that after two weeks in paradise all he wants is to get home and have a decent cup of tea!   ;D

A lot of people are worried about his last post in the diary, they are asking Guy the same questions ;)

From Guy's Forum:

Excuse my very bad English ... I use google to translate ... I meant the last day of your diary you seemed sad ... I had the impression that you were talking as if this was the last tour .... can be expected that there will be another in 2012 ??

Guy:who knows?

And another post...

Hope to see you all again soon .

Guy:me too

I was fearing this ending thing exactly two years ago when I started listening to Mark for the first time.I never saw him live before but in a matter of hours I became an instant fan,his music was everything to me and when I heard there will be a new album and tour I did my best to see him live at least once because I though it will be the last. And believe me it's not that easy for a 16 years old guy living in Kosovo to travel outside the country let alone attend a concert with all those expenses in these very difficult times.I don't want to mention all those struggles and obstacles I had to go through because it was totally worth it and those are the best two hours of my life ,memories that will be treasured for the rest of my life.

Cheers to all of you!

I've seen MK a number of times now. Going to see him live is always one of the greatest moments of my life and I always cherish each time as if it will be my last opportunity. Not just because MK is getting older, but I could get run over by a bus tomorrow, anything could happen. As the man himself says, "Who knows how long we've got..."?

I truly admire people like you and Isacc.  Especially you being sooo young.  That's why I always say passion is an essential ingredient in life.  It makes you overcome every hurdle that come cross your path.  And congratulations to you for fulfilling your dream.

Beautifully spoken from Guy in his last diary, IMO Mark is the best that happened in my life, he is such a big influence.. I tried at school tot get people listen to DS, poor me... It failed, they only listen to rap/r&b, dance etc.. Yuk. It was a great pleasure for me to see, that Gent was as young as me too, finally a young MK Get a Lifer! ;D

Yeah, you know I uttered the same feelings a few day ago in this thread, but last time (2008) I thought it was quite surprising that Mark already made plans for another tour during the last few weeks of that ongoing touring. I am sure he has enough new material to go into the (his) studio again. Let's see what happens. If the recordings and production runs smooth, the idea of getting back on the road will come up automatically I am sure. Because MK is not only a trooper but also a ... roadrunner  :lol! (meek meek)

Absolutely! But I have to admit that I fear he'll be cutting down on the schedule. That could mean less shows for us to enjoy.
Anyway I hope that he'll get well soon. I still don't know if I could cope with such a tight schedule he - and the rest of the touring party of course! - have done in the past.

No matter the number of shows, as long as he will gift us to be able to attend at least one per tour.
Some of our friends from downunder, far east or south america or are not that lucky.

Why worry? There should be new recordings after the tour - so why worry now? :-D

Just me, that's Very cute about what you wrote.  Agreed why worry now.  I'm positive we'll see and hear more of Mark in the future.

Good point - even if MK stopped touring he will probably still show up somewhere in the UK doing a few charity gigs from time to time so its easy for us to jump on a plane to see him - not so for people in the USA,OZ or beyond though. :( :(

IMO, I dont think his touring days are over by a long way but I dont see him travelling as extensively in the future - I cant see him going to OZ or the far east on future tours either :'( :'(

I don't think MK's touring days are over yet either.   I'm sure he is wanting his back to recover first, before any talk of a new album or tour are revealed.   I'm sure, though, that he is busy writing more material already, even on holiday!    :)    Let's think positively!  ;)

MK-news forum - "The next tour":

"Now that Mark has joined his sleepy lifeless setlist by sitting for the entire show (I know, I know, sore back etc), I think he will take it one step further for the next tour and be wheeled out in a bed.

He will probably have a duvet with the setlist all over it.

I also predict a line up of 18 musicians on stage, 12 of them playing flutes and violins.

When he gets to the end solo of Sultans of Swing, he can use snoring sounds instead of actually playing a guitar.

The Amsterdam audience will still love it."
